FROM AVONDALE TO JOBURG, SWISH IS REPPIN ZED

His real names are Farai Muzungaile, they do not sound so Zambian right? Well, he is an indigenous Zambian. Swish also known as Swishy Swish was born on 15 September 1988 in Lusaka, Zambia. The young man fell in love with music when he first started rapping at the tender age of 9, having followed music’s most popular movers and shakers of that era, including 2Pac, Biggie, LL Cool J, and TLC.
With leading hip hop pioneers of today, such as Drake and Kendrick Lamar, boasting original new-school hip hop sounds conceived through personal experiences, Swish has, in turn, drawn inspiration from both rap eras and is slowly, but surely, creating unique urban sounds that reign true to his Afrocentric sensibilities.
Making leaps and bounds to further refine his craft all throughout his upbringing, there came a time in Farai’s life when a shift in focus towards pursuing academic studies took top priority, leading the Zambian native to take a 4 year hiatus from his aspirations towards a career in music. He later continued pursuing music after successfully completing a degree in computing at England’s University of Greenwich in 2011.
Producing and releasing his first mixtape, titled ‘FaRaIDAY’ in 2013, the rapper fast-tracked his growing unsavory reputation to ‘household name’ status after tracks like “FaRaIDAY,” “My Department,” “Do Great,” and “You Decide” started receiving frequent airplay on local Radio Stations like Comet FM, Hone FM, Unza FM, Joy FM and Power FM then later dropped his debut music video for the track “You Decide” that same year.
In early 2014, Swish released a number of music videos from his mixtape, some of which include “FaRaIDAY Remix” and “Pretend Sometimes.”
In what turned out to be the climax of his career, his latest music video titled “FaRaIDAY Remix” which was released in December 2015 premiered on Channel O this year and as if that is not a bombshell enough, Trace TV and Africa Magic (Kumwesu) too have hosted and showcased his videos.
Check out the video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMGbtVwvpAE
Unquestionably, Y FM, one of the biggest Radio Stations in Africa gave this humble and hard working young man’s tracks a couple of SPINS. Locally, he’s being to most of the Radio Stations for interviews and promotion of new music. TV stations like ZNBC, Muvi TV and Prime TV have not distanced themselves from Swish as they provided him a platform to display his musical skills.
His unremitting approach towards the incessant release of new music videos kept Swish on a roll which brought together widespread television airplay that shot up far beyond border, with the rest of Africa starting to take notice.
Ultimately, the “FaRaIDAY Remix” hit maker’s goal would to be to get a globally acknowledged and accepted award such as a Grammy. Other than that, he’d like to be affiliated to a wider platform that will help encourage the youths to never give up on their dreams because he believes that if his dreams can come true, so can anybody else’s provided they are determined, persistent and jam-packed with self-esteem and motivation.

THE STUPENDOUS JEMAH BOOGIE, RISE TO THE TOP

James Banda, whose popularly known as ''Jemah Boogie'' was born on September 24, 1983 in Lusaka. His interest for music developed when he was in Grade Seven but only started writing songs when he was in Grade Eight.
He grew up listening and miming to songs done by local music artists such as Paul Ngozi, PK Chishala, Lucky Dube, Brenda Fassie, Jambo, Bilia Bell, Boyz II Men, Baby Face, Brandy, Sam Cooke, Bobby Womack, Ray Charles and James Brown.
Before venturing into music, Jemah Boogie was an active football player under the supervision of Coach Happy Sichikolo at Lusaka Youth Academy.
He opted to give up football and pursue his educational goals and subsequently graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Computer Science and Information Processing from Evelyn Hone College of Applied Arts and Science in 2006 and he's currently a holder of a Certificate in Materials Testing (Civil Engineering) from the Construction Council of Zambia.
Jemah Boogie started trailing his music career in 2008 on the Copper belt at a record label called Blazer, where he recorded his first two singles, ‘’Nimu zanga chabe’’ and ‘’Baby tika.’’He then joined Danger Zone and recorded his follow up single ‘’Niku mvela mushe’’ featuring Chingola’s finest diva, B Nell. Surprisingly, the RNB singer did not stay long at that studio because of personal reasons. He moved on and got a spot at VS studios in Kitwe and recorded a single called “Fiancee” which went on to get some Radio airplay (SPINS) and performed it twice on Y-Zone TV Show on ZNBC.
Jemah Boogie has toured and performed with Dandy Krazy when he was promoting his debut song “I love you Mommy”.  He has also been a curtain raiser for the likes of B1, Ty2, Baska Baska, Afunika, Zone Fam and B Flow then later on moved to Livingstone for a Job. Whilst in Livingstone, he got signed up by Raising Sounds, which was the only studio in town by and released two singles, ‘’Leave me” featuring Slap Dee and ‘’Okondewa’’.  Jemah Boogie realised that there is no place like home, he bounced back to Lusaka and managed to get a spot at K-Amy Studios, which is owned by KB -Killa Beats. It did not take long for him to start collaborating with renowned Zambian Artists such as Tyce on a track called “More than a boyfriend’’ and ‘’Vibe ni chizungu’’ featuring Starn–DaIndustry. From the way things are moving, it looks like the young man has officially settled at K-Amy Studios.
At the moment, he is promoting a smash hit called ‘’Love
you’’ featuring Jae Cash, a track produced by BigBizzyOnIt and it’s got a super awesome Video directed by Lloydee Kabovelo.

Check it out here https://youtu.be/3W7OkUyFWbY
There is also a choone titled “Oh”, another killa track up for promotion.
When asked about when he’s likely to drop his album, Jemah Boogie calmly responded, he’s not in a hurry to release the album because there are still some hot Videos and singles coming out very soon but he firmly assured me that this year, he’s definitely dropping his debut album.
He also hinted on a collabo with the “SMILE” hit maker, TY2 and another one with Tyce.
Look out for a track called “Stay” up for release next month; it’s going to be a BANGER, best believe that.

    GENERAL OZZY UNLEASHES UNSTOPPABLE EP

David Banda alas Ozzy was born in Ndola 34 years ago, Ozzy blasted to fame on the Zambian music scene in 2004 with a track entitled “Backstabber” which eventually earned a spot in the Romaside compilation alongside artists like Exile, MC Wabwino and Runnel.
Unarguably, the over 10 years hit maker is the most consistent artist from the generation of music artists that pioneered Zambian music to the level it is now. Having had his stint with Sling Beats Records where he released so many hits from, he has never stopped to woo his fans with banging tracks.
General Ozzy has officially let loose his Unstoppable EP after a successful listening session at Vegas Annex VIP in Longacres, Lusaka.
The event which was mostly attended by TV and Radio personalities from different media organisations coupled with some artists and music producers.
KB and Vjeezy were the hosts, Supasta DJ was on hand to deliver hot choones on decks and some notable names included Cash Money and Flex from 4fm, 3illmatic from Rock fm, Master LT and Showstar from Hone fm, Spina from Comet fm and Jekafela Jams from Hot fm.
The Zambezi Magic crew comprised of DSTV Marketing Manager Ndela Sichizya, Public Relations Manager Mwika Malindima, GOTV Public Relations Officer Kalumba Chikonde –Ksmash and a renowned Public Relations Practioner Mumbi Mutale now with Society for Family Health (SFH) were also in attendance.
Zambian artists were encouraged to submit their videos so that they are aired on the DSTV musical channels.
Music producers Raydo and Trickstar, Hiphop artists Secret and Tiye-P and an Ikonik song bird Nyemba were equally spotted in the crowd.
The curtain raiser of the night was none other than the Kopala based Hiphop artist K’Chinga followed by the singing sensation Wezi, who never ceases to captivate people’s hearts with her soulful flavour.
She performed an acoustic version of General Ozzy’s “Take My Heart” then wrapped up with Chi Daddy, her latest single, which is currently enjoying massive airplay on most of the Radio Stations.
DJ Cosmo also laced it with “Olipa” act of his dancehall jams before the freshest and dopest name in game MK Macky 2 delivered a killa performance that left most of the revellers still yearning for more.
Just before the sampling could begin, Ozzy’s young brother, Brotherhood Music C.E.O, a Multi Award Winner, Singer and Producer, Roberto performed Ama-Rulah and his newest single, which has an awesome and fresh video – #Mailo.
After all these performances, it was now time for General Ozzy to step up to the stage and mesmerised the crowd with his antics and lyrics of his most popular tracks.
Some tracks he sampled included “Sebenza” featuring Crisis aka Mr Swagger, the Legendary Zambian Hip hop artist but based in Australia then came “Everything” ft Jody from Namibia, “Girlfriend” featuring Knii Lante produced by TK Romaside then he went on to perform some tracks from the EP, kicking it off with “Mahala”, followed by “She loves the boy” and shut it down with “Pamodzi” together with Wezi.
The 12 track album was auctioned for K3, 000 with the highest bidder being a Ugandan Entrepreneur James Byaru who travelled all the way just to witness the certified release of Unstoppable EP.
This was very historical in that, it’s at the same Vegas Annex VIP where last year in November, KB’s “My Diary” album was auctioned at K3,000 after which PJAY’s “Lesa Somone” went up to K3, 500 in December.
The figures are totally impressive and it’s all thanks to everyone that has been supporting and appreciating the works that these artists put in.
At the moment, the album is only available on iTunes but it will soon be in all the leading sound stores nationwide.
Incontrovertibly, the Unstoppable EP sampling party which ended after midnight was an epic moment and this is what we ought to embrace as lovers of Zambian Music.
The 5-star General urged his fellow artists to always speak out their minds through songs regardless of what the next person is going to say or think.
He reckoned how much he had peace of mind while recording this album, which has made a positive contribution to the project.
